With the aim of strengthening connectivity from Canada to Peru, PROMPERÚ has been working on various promotional actions together with the airline Air Transat. In that sense, yesterday a business conference was held where local companies met with 10 Canadian tour operators from the cities of Montreal and Toronto to show and offer the entire national tourism offer.

This marketplace was carried out within the framework of a familiarization trip organized by PROMPERÚ. In this way, the local business community, who often cannot travel to Canada, was able to achieve direct contact with these companies.

The Director of Tourism Promotion of PROMPERÚ, María del Sol Velásquez, was present at the event, who welcomed and highlighted our diversity.

“Peru is not only nature, history and gastronomy, it is also its people and their kindness that make you feel at home. Thank you all very much for coming and getting to know our country, I am sure you will fall in love with it,” said the Director of Tourism.

Air Transat National Sales Manager, Jhadyd Gonzales, also gave a speech highlighting the direct flights from Montreal and Toronto to Lima, and the importance of our nation for the Canadian industry. Likewise, he pointed out that by November 2024 (Canada's winter), the airline will increase one more frequency from Montreal to the Peruvian capital.

It should be remembered that, in December 2023, Air Transat began its direct flight from Toronto twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays; and from Montreal, on Fridays.

The meeting culminated with a signature class of pisco sour and ceviche, where the Canadian tour operators learned more about our gastronomy and how to prepare these iconic dishes.

INTERNATIONAL STRATEGY

The fam trip organized by PROMPERÚ has been taking place from August 8 to 16 and is focused on the luxury, adventure, culture and community tourism segments. Canadian tour operators will have the opportunity to visit the regions of Lima, Ica and Cusco.

Familiarization trips and business roundtables are part of our international strategy to promote tourism and strengthen trade relations with key countries.

In that sense, Canada is an important market for our country. In 2023, Peru registered a total of 2,009,275 international tourist arrivals, of which 46,733 were Canadian; This represented a growth of 15% compared to 2022.
