The Ministry of Tourism, through the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (CORSATUR) and in collaboration with the Secretariat of Central American Tourism Integration (SITCA), awarded the prestigious Seal of the Central American Integrated System of Quality and Sustainability (SICCS) to 21 companies in the country . This certification, which guarantees high standards of quality and sustainability, highlights El Salvador's commitment to excellent tourism.
The delivery of the certifications took place during the Central American Travel Market 2024 fair, organized by the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA, for its acronym in English). This event is an important forum for the promotion of the region as a world-class multi-destination, and represents a key opportunity for certified companies to present themselves to a demanding international market.
Salvadoran companies certified with the SICCS Seal are located in various tourist spots in the country, including La Palma, Apaneca, Ahuachapán, Sonzacate, Lago de Coatepeque, El Tunco, El Zonte, San Salvador, Alegría, San Francisco Gotera, Jocoaitique and Arambala.
Of the 21 companies that obtained this distinction, 15 are led by women and 6 by men, demonstrating notable progress in female inclusion and leadership in the tourism sector. The distribution of certified companies is as follows: 16 belong to the accommodation sector, 2 to food and 3 are tour operators.
The SICCS Seal not only guarantees the quality of the services offered, but also reaffirms the commitment of these companies to sustainability, ensuring responsible and beneficial practices for the environment and local communities.
In addition, CORSATUR has 18 auditors trained and accredited by SITCA, who are available to answer questions and provide technical assistance to business owners interested in the standards of the SICCS System. This specialized team guarantees the maintenance of the high standards that this certification demands.
The countries of Central America continue to advance in the implementation of initiatives that strengthen the quality and sustainability of tourism in their countries, promoting destinations for their natural and cultural attractions, as well as their competitiveness in the international tourism scene.
