The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Yadira Gómez, who highlighted the importance of regional collaboration for tourism in Central America and the Dominican Republic, with a sustainability focus to face challenges such as climate change.
During the sessions, the actions carried out by the Agency during the first half of 2024 were evaluated in detail. The positive impact of regional initiatives for the promotion and marketing of tourism was highlighted, such as the successful Centroamerica Travel Market Fair, held in April this year in El Salvador. In line with this effort, Honduras presented to the plenary session the progress in preparations to continue this initiative, hosting the next CATM fair in 2025.
In this sense, CATA plans to strengthen its multi-destination positioning strategy in international markets in the coming months with specific actions through prominent industry allies. This strategy will be carried out in close coordination between the public sector and the private sector of the region, brought together in the Federation of Chambers of Tourism of Central America (FEDECATUR), with the aim of moving towards a prosperous and sustainable future for the tourism sector.
