Azul, leader in flights and destinations in Brazil, received on Saturday (15), at Confins / Belo Horizonte airport (MG), the first of 13 new Embraer 195-E2 aircraft that will be delivered to the company by the end of the year , in an investment of more than R$3 billion, announced in April during a ceremony with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. This is the 21st E2 aircraft that Azul has received since 2019, when the first was delivered.
The aircraft was named during the visit of President Lula and government authorities to Embraer's headquarters, in São José dos Campos (SP), on April 26, when it was given the name “Azul & Embraer. Pride of Brazil.” On that occasion, Azul announced the investments and delivery of the 13 aircraft.
“Delivery is very important for expanding our domestic air network. It is a modern and efficient aircraft, with a significant reduction in fuel consumption, reducing not only the cost of operation, but also reducing CO2 emissions. Furthermore, it is a great pride for Azul to collaborate in the development of our aerospace industry, as each aircraft received generates around 500 new jobs”, says Raphael Linares, Legal and Fleet Director at Azul.
Embraer's E2 has capacity for 136 Customers, and is the largest and most modern aircraft manufactured in Brazil. The equipment is the most efficient single-aisle model currently on the market, offering savings of up to 25% in CO2 emissions. Azul currently operates 20 aircraft of the same model, equipped with Wi-Fi and individual televisions. The company expects to receive another 12 pieces of this model this year. Embraer planes are a brand of the company that, in 2009, chose the E-195 E1 models from the Brazilian manufacturer to start its operations in the country.
