Unprecedented success: FIEXPO Latin America 2024 says goodbye to Panama with historic numbers

Once again, FIEXPO Latin America took place in Panama City from June 10 to 13, reaching record numbers in terms of attendance of professionals from the Meetings Industry

There were 734 exhibitors from more than 70 destinations, and 1,133 buyers and commercial visitors. 12,803 meetings were held where business opportunities worth an estimated value of 872 million dollars were generated and negotiated.

Within the framework of FIEXPO Latin America, SITE's Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS) certification was carried out for the first time, attracting professionals interested in strengthening their knowledge and specialization in the incentives segment.

This year, under the leadership of #Meet4Impact and GDS- Global Destination Sustainability Movement, FIEXPO Latin America reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and legacy in the meetings industry, marking the second year of implementing responsible practices. In this edition, the transformative power of people-centered meetings and their significant personal and professional development was highlighted, as fundamental for the development of communities aware of their regenerative capacity. This would not have been possible without the invaluable collaboration of strategic partners such as PROMTUR Panama, ProColombia, the Ministry of Tourism of Uruguay and the Costa Rican Tourism Institute.

The 11th edition of the Latin American Political Forum on Meetings Tourism had the participation of more than forty tourism authorities from Latin America and the Caribbean, including ministers, vice ministers and directors of tourism, representing 12 countries, as well as the outstanding presence of Senthil Gopinath CEO of ICCA, Sherrif Karamat CEO of PCMA, Martin Boyle CEO of IAPCO, Ana María Viscasillas President of the Board of Directors of the EIC, among other authorities present, representatives of international entities. During this edition. Senthil Gopinath, was one of the featured figures, offering a global perspective on sustainability challenges and opportunities in the meetings industry. Veemal Gungadin, CEO of GEVME, presented a ground-breaking overview of the impact of artificial intelligence on the sector, highlighting emerging practices and technologies that are shaping the future of events. For his part, James Latham, director of The ICEBERG Project and renowned expert in strategic communication, enriched the discussions with his valuable ideas on the transformation of the global events industry, underlining the importance of sustainability in the
transformation of the event ecosystem. events.

Educational sessions were one of the focal points of FIEXPO Latin America 2024, offering a wide range of learning and professional development opportunities.

We highlight the Next Generation Summit, an event designed to inspire and train the next generation of MICE professionals. This summit focused on the development of digital and leadership skills, fostering an interactive and collaborative learning environment.

The Connecting Minds: From Scratch program, directed by expert Mike Van Der Vijver, was one of the main attractions of this edition. This effective program design mega lab provided participants with the opportunity to create and develop programs from scratch, integrating innovative concepts and
practical strategies for the MICE industry.

Specialized forums, such as the Corporate Forum and the Forum of International and Latin American Associations, organized in collaboration with PCMA and ICCA, brought together experts and industry leaders to discuss current trends and challenges, offering valuable insights and strategies for the future of the meetings industry.

The Meeting Hub became an epicenter of knowledge and innovation, hosting keynotes and panel discussions on crucial topics such as artificial intelligence, event transformation, sustainability, leadership and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). This space facilitated an exchange of ideas and practices that will significantly contribute to the advancement of the industry, promoting a more inclusive and sustainable events ecosystem.

We especially highlight the support and commitment of PROMTUR Panama, which has demonstrated why Panama "Live For More". There have been three fruitful editions of FIEXPO Latin America in this country, growing together and strengthening the meetings industry in Latin America.
