Tierra del Fuego prepares to celebrate the National Winter Festival

The president of the Fuegian Institute of Tourism Dante Querciali provided details of how the province is preparing for this beginning of winter 2024

In this sense, he indicated that Infuetur is working hard to promote the destination through the winter centers and all the activities offered by each one.

"Since the beginning of the year we have begun to work on the dissemination of our winter season, promoting the offer of the destination in a presentation that took place in May in Buenos Aires where the aim was to attract new agencies that sell the destination and strengthen new products in the operators that already work with the End of the World destination,” he assured.

In addition, Querciali indicated that “there was strong communication about the National Winter Festival where we begin the ice and snow season with a whole week of activities together with winter centers and providers, the central event being July 9 with multiple activities and the traditional torch lowering at Cerro Castor, who also celebrate their 25th anniversary this year, which is why it is an additional addition to this celebration.”

“The National Winter Festival was declared of national interest by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, which gives a special imprint to this event and is scheduled so that travelers take this event into account when planning their trip. . In the case of residents, the torchlight descent has become a family gathering where they can enjoy the snow, ice and the different proposals that we organize together with Cerro Castor and the three municipalities of Ushuaia, Tolhuin and Río Grande," explained the official.

News from the Winter Centers

It is worth mentioning that the winter centers in the Tierra Mayor Nature Reserve and in Glaciar Martial are offering activities for the whole family.

This Thursday the Cerro Martial opens its facilities, which offers activities in a ski and snowboard school, ski lift, snowshoe circuit, sled slopes, snowpark, splintboard and ski touring, and has rentals.

While Cerro Castor opens its doors on Friday with new features, with the installation and expansion of the artificial snow network reaching 35% total coverage of the skiable surface.

Additionally, as part of the investment plan, the capacity of the Viejo Castor Restaurant was expanded, and renovations were made to the Snowbar café/restaurant, located at the base. At the same time, work was carried out to install the new quadruple chairlift that will accompany the Sol and Este Teleskis, scheduled for the 2025 season.
