The Surf City El Salvador Pro, the third international surfing event of the 2024 season in the country, will take place from June 6 to 15, 2024 and marks the seventh stop on the world circuit, in which 36 elite athletes will participate, including national Bryan Pérez.
The tournament brings together the most outstanding surfers, who travel all year round to the best 10 waves in the world, including Punta Roca, to crown the top exponent of this discipline at a professional level. Since its inclusion in the CT calendar, in 2022, the conditions offered by Surf City have been fundamental in the race for the world title, with great and emblematic figures shining in Salvadoran waters.
Like major sporting events such as the World Cup, this is a competition with extensive media coverage, attracting a global audience and putting the country in the eyes of the world, boosting tourism by projecting the offer with a diversity of destinations, in addition to the gastronomic and cultural wealth of El Salvador.
This year, reaffirming the confidence in the organization's capacity, El Salvador will also host another important world surfing tournament, the WSL Longboard Tour, to be held on El Sunzal beach, La Libertad.
“We are honored to host two world championship events at two of El Salvador’s most famous surf spots in Punta Roca and El Sunzal,” said Graham Stapelberg, WSL Regional President for North and Central America.
“It’s fantastic to have the full support of the Government of El Salvador, who understand the economic impact that surfing can have on a country, especially one like El Salvador, which is blessed with a rich coastline of world-class waves. The surfers and staff of WSL love coming to the La Libertad region and we look forward to a long and rewarding partnership with El Salvador,” he added.
El Salvador has been a stop on the WSL Championship Tour for three consecutive years, and the Punta Roca surf spot welcomes the best surfers in the world.
