The Consumer Price Index is key to understanding how its variation affects Colombians' spending decisions, and thus their intention to travel. The annual reduction that the CPI had been showing every month throughout 2024 had a small reversal in June, going from 7.16% to 7.18%.

On the other hand, the subclasses associated with tourism have shown a better performance in their variations during 2024, always being below the general CPI. However, during June this good pace was somewhat affected, which can be seen in the impact on passenger transport by air, which went from -18.8% annually in May to -7.8% annually in June and in the case of tourist packages, from -6.3% to -4.8% respectively.

"Although prices continue to decline annually, the pace was slower than the results presented in May, but despite this, the decrease continues to be an incentive for Colombians to travel," explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

He added: “The above will continue to favour the objective of making tourism one of the biggest drivers of economic recovery, stimulating domestic demand.”
