Curaçao: June saw 50,123 stopover arrivals, an increase of 13%

The Curaçao Tourist Board is pleased to report another double-digit growth in overnight visitor arrivals in the country

The island experienced a solid 13% increase in arrivals compared to June of the previous year, welcoming a total of 50,123 overnight visitors in June 2024. The absolute number of arrivals is notable, reaching 50,000 overnight visitor arrivals in what is normally a slow seasonal month. This achievement cements Curaçao’s position as a premier tourist destination in the Caribbean.

The months of May and June usually saw an average of 30,000 overnight tourist arrivals, but since last year, the tourist office has observed an increase in arrivals, with more than 40,000 overnight tourist arrivals in the aforementioned months. This year, the figure has been set at 50,000 overnight tourist arrivals, which demonstrates a high demand from tourists choosing Curaçao as a holiday destination.

Performance of the top 3 source markets in June
Netherlands: In June 2024, 15,424 visitors stayed the same number of nights, 12% more than in June 2023, when 13,804 arrivals were recorded. Just over half of Dutch visitors chose to stay in a resort (52%), while the remaining 48% stayed in a resort during their stay. Dutch people stayed an average of 11.3 nights in June.

United States of America: The US remains a strong market, recording a 14% increase from 13,071 in June 2023, totalling 14,913 arrivals in June 2024. The accommodation preferences for the US market are the wide range of resort hotels (70%), while the remaining 30% opted for other accommodation options available on the island. On average, US visitors stayed 6.0 nights in Curaçao.

Colombia: Colombian visitors increased by 43% with 5,290 arrivals in June 2024 compared to 3,692 in June 2023. On average, Colombian visitors spent 5.6 nights in June. In terms of accommodation options, 50% of Colombian visitors opted for resort-style hotels.

Year-to-Date Highlights in 2024
The first six months of 2024 have shown a remarkable performance, with 346,774 overnight arrivals, representing a 27% growth compared to the same period last year. The Curaçao Tourist Board anticipates strong tourism numbers for the remainder of the year, potentially reaching a total of 700,000 overnight arrivals. To further boost its tourism success, Curaçao is focusing on forming strategic partnerships and promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors. These efforts aim to improve accessibility and cement Curaçao’s reputation as the Caribbean’s premier destination, encouraging visitors to “Experience It for Themselves.”
