After the first six months of the year, Puerto Vallarta reports good numbers in areas such as the arrival of passengers by air and the number of bus runs recorded at the city terminal.

Regarding the number of travelers who have arrived at the destination by air, in the first half of 2024, 3,758,900 passengers were received, while in the same period of 2023, 3,662,400 were registered, which represents an increase of 2.6% compared to the previous year.

Growth has been notable in the number of international passengers, which rose from 2,264,800 in 2023 to 2,441,500 in 2024; this is equivalent to an increase of 7.8% so far this year.

In another area, the maritime terminal closed the semester with 94 cruise ship arrivals registered, with 285,625 passengers arriving, which translates into a significant economic impact for the destination.

As for passenger buses, this year there have been 24,953 trips registered at the Puerto Vallarta terminal, while in the same period last year there were 24,123, that is, there was an increase of 3% in this area. The number of passengers who traveled by this means is 260,775 from January to June.

On the other hand, the projections for this summer vacation period are encouraging. The Jalisco Tourism Secretariat has predicted a growth of at least 3% for Puerto Vallarta, with an average hotel occupancy of 78% during this period, taking into account that it rises to 80 or 85 percent on weekends.

Luis Villaseñor, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, commented: “At this time we are giving a great push to the promotion of the destination at a national level, since in summer domestic tourism is our main visitor. Even so, we never lose sight of the international markets, which promise to continue favoring Puerto Vallarta in the coming seasons by increasing its air connectivity.”

Following this good performance in the first half of 2024, Puerto Vallarta is expected to continue with good numbers for the rest of the year. The air routes from abroad to the destination that have been recently announced by Alaska Airlines and the increase in frequencies by American Airlines from Phoenix, Arizona will surely benefit with a greater influx of international visitors.
