A solid partnership between hotels and entertainment attractions has created an affordable package especially for families visiting Foz do Iguaçu during the low season. The city, already known for its excellent hospitality and quality of its hotels, now offers tourists the opportunity to take advantage of lower rates and visit international attractions, such as the Water Show or Movie Cars, attractions at Wonder Park Foz. The attractions have been praised by tourists who have seen similar shows in Las Vegas, Dubai and Singapore, who say that the show in Foz do Iguaçu is superior. The car collection was voted the second best attraction in the Land of the Falls.

This partnership aims to improve hotel occupancy during the low season, which runs from August to October in the second half of the year, strengthening the local economy and enabling people to maintain jobs throughout the year. "We have noticed that, after the pandemic, the economy has not yet fully recovered. Therefore, this partnership between the entertainment and hotel sectors aims to encourage people to travel more during this period, taking advantage of the incredible accommodation in Foz do Iguaçu and also visiting a world-class attraction," says Paula Canella, commercial director of Wonder Park Foz.

To improve hotel occupancy during the low season, several hotels are participating in a partnership that offers affordable accommodation packages, including the Wonder Park Foz Water Show. Edilson Andrade,
commercial director of Recanto Cataratas Resort Thermas & Convention, highlighted that Destino Iguaçu is becoming increasingly important and attracting the attention of consumers, thanks to investments in new attractions. "Large and small attractions have realized the value and potential of Destino Iguaçu, started investing to expand and grow, and today they have already achieved a certain prominence. Visitors are curious to see these international-level attractions," he added.

This partnership between Recanto Cataratas Resort and Wonder Park Foz is very important because it shows that Foz do Iguaçu has more attractions, besides the Falls, Itaipu, Argentina and Paraguay. For the marketing manager, Michelle Santana, this type of partnership adds a lot when it comes to making a purchase decision and choosing the resort where you want to spend your vacation with your family in Foz do Iguaçu.

“This partnership creates a unique experience for resort guests, who are surprised upon arrival to see the car from the film Dumb and Dumber displayed right in front of the resort and also receive a ticket to take a ride on the Movie Cars with their family,” says Micelle,

Maintaining a hotel's staff is also essential to maintaining the quality of services, as the low season is short throughout the year and, if the hotel industry does not have good occupancy, many cuts are usually made. When it is necessary to rehire, there are often no qualified professionals available. "Establishing partnerships is essential to strengthen the visitor and accommodation sector, especially during the low season," emphasizes Marcos Contessoto, from the reservations department at Hotel San Juan Tour.

Contessoto believes that partnerships like these allow for the creation of more attractive packages and joint promotions to encourage tourism throughout the year. "By boosting the local economy, we ensure the sustainability of businesses and the maintenance of jobs, avoiding the negative impacts of unemployment in the city or region."

The guests' impression

During the July holidays, tourists flock to hotels in Foz do Iguaçu, attracted by the excellent hospitality and the variety of attractions, such as Wonder Park Foz, which offers rides on Movie Cars, the Show das Águas, and the delicious retro burger joint, Bonnie's Burger. The couple Marcelo Maestro and Juliana Scopel visited Foz do Iguaçu for the third time and this time they came with their two young children. “We stayed at Recanto Cataratas and won tickets to see Movie Cars. We were delighted with the attraction because it revived memories of my childhood and I remembered movies I watched when I was young,” says Marcelo.

Juliana said that it awakened the desire to have movie sessions at home to watch films that feature the cars from Movie Cars, together with her children.

“I watched a lot of films when I was a teenager, but I also got to see cars up close like Ayrton Senna’s McLaren, whose story we followed in Formula 1,” says Juliana.

Brazil's third largest hotel complex
Foz do Iguaçu is the third largest hotel complex in the country, with over 28,000 beds, among all hotel categories, which need to be occupied every month of the year to provide job stability. The tourism sector in the Land of the Falls generates, on average, over 36,000 direct jobs, according to 2023 data from CAGED (General Registry of Employed and Unemployed Persons). Given these numbers, it is necessary to create strategies to maintain better employment and avoid unemployment.
