Embratur will intensify the promotion of Brazil in South America during Meeting Brazil 2024. The event, which takes place in four key cities on the continent between this Tuesday (30) and August 7, will feature strategic meetings with operators of the international tourism chain. The objective is to ensure the expansion of knowledge of Brazilian destinations in an assertive manner according to the tourist profile of each country.
The cities that will host the event are:
Buenos Aires, Argentina: July 30
Santiago, not Chile: August 1st
Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in Bolivia: August 5
Lima, not Peru: August 7.
According to Embratur President Marcelo Freixo, participation in Meeting Brazil represents the management's commitment to expand and strengthen dialogue with tourism professionals in Latin America.
“The Latin American market is very important for the promotion of Brazil. Geographical and cultural proximity makes visiting our diverse destinations easier and more accessible. That is the focus of our work in terms of air connectivity and strengthening land routes with our neighbors, attracting these tourists to enjoy all the wonders that Brazil has to offer,” he explains.
The event will reinforce the Brazilian destinations of Sun and Beach. Embratur goes further and shows how this segment combines nature, culture and gastronomy from north to south of the country, with Brazilian hospitality and the promotion of well-being and the possibility of connecting with oneself.
Jair Pasquini, director of Expan+® and organizer of Meeting Brasil, says that Embratur's participation as one of the main exhibitors at Meeting Brasil 2024 is a great step towards reinforcing Brazil's image as a world-class tourist destination.
“Embratur has been instrumental in promoting our destinations abroad and we are excited about the opportunities that this collaboration will bring to the event participants,” he said.
The Agency's participation in the event is part of a series of planned actions aimed at strengthening the promotion of Brazil in these countries. For August, for example, Embratur will host familiarization trips with international tour operators (famtours) and visits by journalists and influencers (press trips) to national destinations. In September, participation in the Latin America International Tourism Fair (FIT) is planned, which will be held in Buenos Aires. And in October there will be an advertising campaign to promote Brazil in the region.
Last February, Embratur promoted a roadshow that presented Brazilian destinations to operators in Montevideo, Uruguay, Santiago de Chile, Lima, Peru and Bogotá, Colombia, as well as the Argentine capital. And that same month, in collaboration with Sebrae, the Agency took Chilean and Argentine journalists on a press trip to discover the Carnival in Belo Horizonte (MG). In addition, since the beginning of this year, the Agency has been working with the Discover Brazil Committees in those countries.

In the case of Bolivians, the forecast for 2024 is 140,279 visitors, which will represent, with the confirmation of the data, an increase of 13.31% compared to last year, when Brazil registered the arrival of 123,803 Bolivians.
In the case of Peru, the forecast for arrivals in 2024 is 138,286 international tourists, 39.19% higher than last year's arrivals, which had 99,353 Peruvians. Of the three countries that will host the Meeting Brasil 2024, Argentina is the only one that expects a drop, from 5% to 7%, going from 1,882,240 Argentines in 2023 to 1,788,128, due to the worsening economic crisis there. Despite this, the country remains the main source of tourists to Brazil.
As for information on the supply of airline seats, by country, Argentina currently operates with 11 companies with direct flights to Brazil and has a forecast of 2.5 million seats in arrivals for 2024, an increase of 22% compared to last year. In second place, Chile operates with three companies, and with a forecast of 1.9 million seats in arrivals for this year, an increase of 65% compared to 2023.
Bolivia and Peru operate direct flights to Brazil with two airlines each. The forecast, in the first case, is 178 thousand seats in arrivals for the year 2024, which represents an 8% growth compared to 2023. And in the second, the expectation is 445 thousand seats in arrivals, which will represent, if the data is known, an increase of 20% compared to last year.
