Sixty-six local producers and 26 tourism companies will be able to negotiate their products and services with national and international buyers during the two business roundtables organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) within the framework of the Expo Perú Los Andes 2024 fair, which is taking place in Ayacucho.
The objectives of the business roundtables are to generate export opportunities for small and medium-sized companies in the regions that make up the Los Andes Regional Community (Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, Ica and Junín), as well as to strengthen the marketing and dissemination of the tourist offer of these regions.
"These two business roundtables, which are carried out as part of the Expo Perú Los Andes fair, make up PROMPERÚ's strategy to promote the growth of exports and the reactivation of domestic tourism. This strategy contemplates the generation of commercial opportunities, above all, for micro, small and medium-sized companies, which we advise and accompany in their professionalization and internationalization”, stated Claricia Tirado, executive president of PROMPERÚ.
On Wednesday, July 24, the export business roundtable was held, in which 66 companies, cooperatives and associations from the Agribusiness and Decoration sectors held around 300 commercial meetings with 23 buyers from Canada, Germany, the United States, Brazil, Chile, France, Italy, Spain, China and Singapore.
The agricultural products that were sought to be exported are quinoa, maca, avocado, ginger, turmeric and aguaymanto, while the decorative items that were promoted are altarpieces, cushions and figures made with Huamanga stone. The sales expectation is USD 9 million in the next 12 months.
On Thursday, July 25, the tourism business roundtable will be held, in which 26 companies, including travel agencies and lodging establishments, from the Los Andes Regional Community will participate as exhibitors. These companies will be able to present their tourism offer to 22 buyers from Lima, Arequipa, La Libertad, Ica, Cusco and Tacna, regions with the highest number of tourists nationwide.
It should be noted that this is the second time that PROMPERÚ has organized a tourism business roundtable within the framework of the Expo Perú Los Andes 2024 fair. In this edition, it is expected to reach 468 business meetings and achieve a business potential of 2.5 million soles in sales.
