In order to continue strengthening tourism promotion, security and international cooperation with the United States, as well as the application of protection systems for American tourists, the heads of the State Secretariat of Tourism (SEDETUR), the Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ) and the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIQROO) held strategic meetings with the Department of State and the Embassy of Mexico in the United States.
The Quintana Roo delegation was headed by the head of SEDETUR, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, who, representing Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, had a meeting with the United States Department of State, led by Max Hamilton, Head of the Western Hemisphere Bureau of Mexico, where he reiterated the State Government's commitment to maintaining the safety and protection of tourists.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the general director of APIQROO, Vagner Elbiorn, and the CTPQ, Andrés Martínez, the technological advances in tourist security promoted by the state government were shared, including the Guest Assist and Guest Locator systems, designed to protect and assist national and international tourists.
The Quintana Roo delegation also held a meeting with the Mexican Ambassador to the United States of America, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán.
At this meeting, ties between the Government of Quintana Roo and the Embassy were strengthened, highlighting the promotion of the state's 12 tourist destinations through the diplomatic office and the 51 Mexican consulates in the United States.
The State Government also reiterated its commitment to building a new tourism model to diversify and strengthen this important activity, with the aim of bringing prosperity and social justice to all families in Quintana Roo.
At the meeting with the US-Mexico Foundation, headed by Enrique Perret, Director, and Cinthia Martínez, Head of Office, opportunities were discussed for students from the state's public universities to do internships in Washington. This collaboration reinforces the educational agenda of the Government of Quintana Roo, promoting the academic and professional development of young people from Quintana Roo.
The delegation also participated in a series of strategic meetings with Amy Alipio of National Geographic, where opportunities were explored to highlight the natural and cultural wealth of Quintana Roo in world-renowned publications.
There was also a meeting with Natalie Compton from the Washington Post, focused on promoting positive and attractive stories about the state's tourist destinations. As well as with companies, tourist associations, travel agencies on digital platforms, airlines and the MICE sector, with the aim of strengthening alliances and tourism promotion strategies.
In addition, the photographic exhibition “Water Roots” was held, a photographic tour that explores the vital role of water in the formation of natural beauty, cultural heritage and contemporary life in Quintana Roo at the Cultural Institute of Washington, where the New Era of Tourism campaign by the CPTQ was also presented.
SEDETUR reiterates its commitment to continue working to position the state as a safe, innovative and attractive tourist destination, under the guidance and vision of Governor Mara Lezama.
