Mexico promotes itself to the United States and bets heavily on this market

The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, began a working tour in New York with the Consul General of Mexico in this city, Jorge Islas López

In New York, Torruco Marqués presented the seminar “This is Mexico” to 297 important tour operators and travel agents from the United States and explained the great tourist wealth of Mexico, as well as the projects that strengthen the infrastructure and connectivity to the 270 tourist destinations. 

Accompanied by Peter Pincus, Commercial Director of CCRA International, he highlighted that this organization groups more than 8,500 travel agencies in the United States, and represents 50,000 travel agents.

The Secretaries of Tourism of Baja California also participated in this tour; Miguel Ángel Aguíñica from Michoacán, Roberto Monroy from Quintana Roo, Bernardo Cueto from Tabasco, José Antonio Nieves and Michelle Friedman from Yucatán, as well as representatives from Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Nayarit and Veracruz, along with travel agents and businessmen, who presented the offers of their destinations and participated in the networking sessions.

Torruco Marqués highlighted the importance of the United States as the main source market for tourists to Mexico, which in 2023 registered 13.5 million by air with an expenditure of 15,228 million dollars. 

Tour operators showed great interest in Mexico's tourism products such as the Mayan Train and airports.
