Iberostar Beachfront Resorts reopens the doors of its Iberostar Waves Gaviotas Park hotel, an all inclusive family resort which welcomes its guests back to Jandía beach, Fuerteventura, after an ambitious refurbishment project.
With a firm commitment to quality and to providing guests with exceptional service, the hotel reflects all the attributes that define the new Iberostar Waves concept, a fun and reassuring hotel concept designed for value-savvy families and beach-loving couples.
The resort, located in the surroundings of the Jandía natural park, has 237 completely renovated spacious rooms and suites with most accommodating up to five or six people. The new stand out family suites with two rooms and the themed rooms are carefully designed for the little ones with furniture inspired by the elements of the sea and surfing. Moreover, the hotel offers five outdoor pools and a complete spa. For younger guests, the resort boasts an endless number of surprises that start from the slide in the reception, to the children's spaces such as the Star Camp, a splash pool and an extended children's pool area with games and aquafun activities.
This renewed family concept introduces a completely new, varied, healthy and sustainable gastronomic experience, with quality products and a wide range of responsibly sourced fish and seafood. The resort offers four restaurants and bars:the buffet restaurant Maday, taken from the traditional Guanche name, offers the best of local and international gastronomy; Erbania, the former name of the island of Fuerteventura, is a snack bar with decoration that is inspired by waves and surfing while the Marasul bar is inspired by the essence and beauty of the sea and the sun; and the theatre bar, Tindaya, is reminiscent of the island's sacred mountain, a 400-metre-high archaeological treasure that stands out in the arid and flat landscape of Fuerteventura.
The hotel’s design is inspired by the essence of the islandand incorporates marine elements with seagulls, which translates to “Gaviotas” in Spanish, as a common thread. Iberostar has chosen to incorporate marine life into the hotel design to reflect their passion for the oceans, whilst also nodding to water sports such as windsurfing and surfing which attract multitudes of travellers to Fuerteventura throughout the year. In addition, the resort integrates floral decorative elements inspired by the cacti and succulents, native to the island.
Finn Ackermann, Chief Commercial Officer of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts says:
“We are very proud to reopen this hotel which, after its transformation, will become one of the best hotels in the Canary Islands. This project, which we have carried out based on the valuable comments of our guests and partners, has been designed to receive multigenerational families and demonstrates our solid commitment to offering a quality product and our efforts to continue promoting a responsible tourism model in the Canary Islands.”
RESPONSIBLE TOURISM AND COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITIES
Firm in its commitment to promoting a responsible tourism model in the countries in which it operates, Iberostar is committed to sustainability and local communities. The hotel chain plans to employ 240 people in Fuerteventura for the hotel, offering them a wide range of benefits that address their overall wellbeing.
In addition, the new resort reopens its doors as a 100% electric hotel, with its energy coming from renewable sources, like the rest of Iberostar’s hotels in Spain, in order to minimise its carbon footprint and work to achieve the goal of zero net emissions by 2030. Aware of the privileged environment in which it is located, Iberostar Waves Gaviotas Park aims to source all seafood from responsible sources by 2025; and aspires to reduce food waste with the help of a tracking system based on artificial intelligence, in line with Iberostar's ambitious commitment to be free of waste sent to landfill by 2025.
