The Southern Right Whale has been migrating to our coasts between the months of July and October for many years. In Uruguay, the species is becoming more and more present and hundreds of curious people come to the beaches to enjoy its jumps, fins, flows and blows, often just a few meters from the coast and under an incomparable landscape.

Whale watching is a tourist activity that captivates hundreds of thousands of people around the world, who go in search of experiences as close as those that Uruguay is fortunate to have, from Piriápolis to Barra del Chuy.

The event also featured different presentations: “Whale Season” Audiovisual by nature photographer Álvaro Pérez Tort from the NGO BallenasUY, “A girl, a whale, a sea, the adventures of Matilda and Armonía” book by Lucía Núñez and Paz Machado and “The Right Whale in Uruguay connecting the visitor with the landscape” Audiovisual by Leonardo Borba from the NGO Fauna Marina Uruguaya.

The presentation of the Cycle of Workshops for the formation of nodes in Maldonado of the National Network for Assistance to Cetaceans by the NGO RenaceUy was also held, in addition to the presentation of the 2024 Whale Season Proposal on the Rocha Tourist Bus by the Tourism Directorate.
