"Paraíba has significantly expanded the promotion and publicity of its tourism regions, actively participating in all tourism trade fairs in Brazil," said Lucena. These efforts have resulted in an exponential growth in demand for the destination, which has become one of the preferred choices both in the Northeast and throughout Brazil.
The impact of the Cabo Branco Tourist Center
Lucena highlighted the Cabo Branco Tourist Complex as one of the major new developments in tourism in the Northeast. “Currently, more than 10,000 new beds are under construction in the largest planned tourist complex in the region,” he explained. This development is part of an assertive strategy that has been consolidating Paraíba as a prominent destination on the national scene. With solid and strategic investments, the state has attracted not only tourists, but also large companies in the sector, such as the Tauá Resorts Network, which is already implementing a large resort with more than a thousand apartments in the state, with completion scheduled for the end of 2025.
Public-private partnerships boost tourism
According to Lucena, the success of tourism in Paraíba is largely due to the strong partnership between the state government and the private sector. He highlighted the arrival of large projects, such as one of the largest water parks in Brazil, in addition to other significant investments. "We are no longer the hot topic, we are in the spotlight," he stated, emphasizing the joint work between PBTUR, the local tourism sector and business entities, which have combined efforts and resources to further enhance tourism in Paraíba.
The tourist power of the capital of Paraíba
João Pessoa, the capital of Paraíba, has established itself as one of the main entry points for tourists, offering around 14,000 hotel beds, many of which face the sea. Lucena pointed out that the city, known for its quality of life, is prepared to receive both tourists seeking leisure and those interested in exploring the region's many tourist attractions, such as the natural pools of Picãozinho, Areia Vermelha beach and the rich local historical heritage.
Azul Paraíbe-se Route
In partnership with Azul Viagens and Azul Linhas Aéreas, Paraíba launched the tourism product "Paraíbe-se", a route that integrates four tourist regions of the state: Brejo, Agreste, Curimataú and Cariri. "This route offers a diversity of experiences, from adventure tourism to ecotourism, attracting visitors of all ages", explained Lucena. The route connects cold mountain landscapes to semi-arid regions, passing through the city of the largest São João festival in the world and offering unique experiences that highlight the cultural and natural richness of Paraíba.
Paraíba on the route of major events
Lucena also highlighted the importance of the João Pessoa Convention Center, a modern facility that has put Paraíba on the map for major national and international events. "This complex has already hosted countless events, with the participation of more than 8,000 people, and has put Paraíba on the map for major congresses and trade fairs," he said. In addition, he announced the construction of the Campina Grande Convention Center, which promises to further boost the local economy and expand opportunities for business tourism and events in the region.
