Dominican Republic strengthens its position at IBTM Americas 2024

With the participation of more than 22 companies, the delegation of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic successfully completed its participation in the 2024 edition of IBTM Americas

IBTM Americas, the annual event that brings together the main players in the business tourism, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) industry in Mexico, Latin America and North America, took place from August 21 to 22 at the Citibanamex Convention Center in Mexico City, and offered the Dominican Republic a privileged platform to showcase its vast cultural, historical, gastronomic and natural diversity, consolidating its status as a preferred destination for corporate and incentive events. 

During the fair, the Dominican delegation held more than 840 meetings with specialized buyers in the tourism industry throughout the region, generating business potential valued at millions
of dollars.

“The Dominican Republic has experienced remarkable growth in the MICE segment, with destinations that provide the perfect environment for organizing all types of events, thanks to the cultural diversity and impressive landscapes that our country has to offer.

It is estimated that almost 6,700 events are held annually in the country, mainly in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, of which 55.2% are meetings, 36.2% events, 5.9% incentives and 2.8% congresses, registering more than 524 thousand attendees and 89 thousand rooms reserved," said Carolina Pérez, Director of tourism promotion of the Dominican Republic in Mexico.

During the fair, the Dominican delegation, made up of companies such as EITI DMC, ARAJET SA, Association of Hotels and Cluster of Santo Domingo, Hotel Casa del Campo Resort & Villa, Catalonia Santo Domingo, Hodelpa, Renaissance Santo Domingo Hotel & Casino, Majestic Resort, Marriot Hotel and Aloft Hotel Santo Domingo Piantini, Mice Spots Travel Service, Otium International, Sunset Caribbean, Renny Travel DMC, Colonial Tours Caribbean DMC, K&M Destinos, Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo / JDV by Hyatt Punta Cana, Secrets Cap Cana resorts & Spa, Sheraton Santo Domingo Hotel, Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo, Dominicana & Parners DMC, Amstar DMC and ECT MICE DMC Dominican Republic, invited all the participants of the fair to taste paradise through the richness of the country's tourist offer, which includes unique experiences in gastronomy, adventure, nature, culture, as well as a first-class hotel infrastructure and high-quality services for the organization of international meetings and business trips. incentives.

During the meetings held throughout the day, the Dominican Republic promoted cities such as Santo Domingo, La Romana, Punta Cana, Samaná, Puerto Plata and Miches, positioning them as ideal destinations for meetings and incentive tourism. In addition, it organized a breakfast for hosted buyers, where training was offered on its products, offers and opportunities.

Additionally, the cultural and gastronomic delegation of the Ministry took advantage of the space to close the first day with an outstanding presentation of folkloric ballet, this being one of the key activities in the promotion of the destination within the framework of IBTM Americas.
