PROMPERÚ presented a campaign to promote meeting tourism

The initiative promotes Lima, Arequipa, Paracas, Cusco and Iquitos as cities that integrate the conditions to host international meetings and events

The Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ) presented the “Meaningful meetings in Peru 2024” campaign, with the aim of promoting the country as an ideal destination for meetings, incentive trips and international events in strategic markets. The main video of the campaign was launched within the framework of the IBTM Americas fair, which took place in Mexico from August 21 to 22.

“The campaign highlights the different attributes of Peru that position it as the ideal Latin American destination for incentive trips and international meetings. In addition to the culture, nature, gastronomy and unique experiences that the country offers, there is also its privileged geographic location, as well as its hotel and technological infrastructure,” says Claricia Tirado, executive president of PROMPERÚ.

In this way, through different communication pieces, “Meaningful meetings in Peru” seeks to position Lima, Arequipa, Paracas, Cusco and Iquitos as cities that meet all the conditions to host large-scale events and accompany the stay of international visitors and delegates with unique experiences.

The campaign will be launched in priority markets for this segment, such as the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico. It also seeks to reach meeting planners; organizers of congresses, conferences and events (academic, corporate, sports, etc.); business travel managers; senior corporate executives; among others.

On meeting tourism

Meeting tourism is a specialized segment that contributes to the economy of each destination. The holding of an associative or corporate event activates more than thirteen service sectors such as lodging, transportation, audiovisual aids, registration and enrollment, architecture, food and beverages, among others. In addition, meeting tourists spend 50% more in the destination than vacation tourists.

PROMPERÚ at IBTM Americas 2024

PROMPERÚ presented the campaign at the renowned IBTM Americas 2024 fair, which brought together leaders in the meetings industry in Mexico from August 21 to 22.

In addition, 390 meetings were held with buyers specialising in the MICE tourism industry at a 140-square-metre stand.

The institutional delegation was accompanied by 12 representatives of Peruvian companies in the tourism sector, as well as the Lima Convention and Visitors Bureau.
