LEVEL, the long-haul airline from Barcelona belonging to the IAG group, has renewed its catering equipment - trolleys, ovens and standard units - with which it will become more sustainable, since the new supply of trolleys on board is made from lighter and cutting-edge materials.

The introduction of this new on-board equipment allows the aircraft's operating weight to be reduced by an annual total of approximately 678 t, with a fuel saving of 203 t, which contributes to reducing 508 t of CO₂ emissions.

LEVEL has added a total of 1,250 trolleys, 1,500 standard units and 450 ovens to its fleet with its branding. In addition to the reduction in the weight of the cargo on the aircraft, another advantage worth highlighting is the greater ease of use on board by its crews and catering staff, because being lighter, these devices are easier to handle during the loading of the aircraft and the different services of the flight.

This renovation is yet another example of LEVEL's commitment to sustainability. Among the airline's notable initiatives are the reduction of plastic on board, the optimization of the fuel loading procedure up to thirty minutes before flight departure and the possibility of customizing the menu on demand through its pre-sale platform, which helps reduce food waste and optimize weight on board, contributing to a lower environmental impact.

Furthermore, LEVEL, as part of the IAG Group, has made a commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This global goal reflects the Group's dedication to leading the aviation industry in implementing sustainable practices and reducing its carbon footprint.

Ricard Falomir, Chief Digital & Customer Officer at LEVEL: "The renewal of our catering equipment is a significant step towards improving our operational efficiency and reducing our impact on the environment. This new equipment not only underlines our strong commitment to sustainability across all our operations, but also optimises the onboard experience and makes work easier for our crews and external suppliers."
