After a successful partnership last year with the Italian brand Ferragamo – which landed on Bahian soil for the first time and decorated the inn’s common areas –, the company’s co-owner, Evelyn Gavioli, is now announcing what’s coming: an unprecedented partnership with By Kami, which will revamp the award-winning inn’s restaurant, bringing the style of its contemporary lifestyle to the sands of Costa do Descobrimento. This action, by the way, is part of the sustainable retrofit process with renovation of several spaces under the leadership of architect Alexandre Silveira, which will soon be revealed.
Estrela D'Água is located in a region known worldwide for its spectacular landscapes, its golden beaches surrounded by the Atlantic Forest and the famous Quadrado, where old fishermen's houses have given way to countless shops, bars and gourmet restaurants.
And it is precisely 600 meters away from this popular quadrilateral that the inn is located. Right on the sand of Praia dos Nativos and in the middle of the Atlantic Forest, it has 19,000 m2 of beautiful gardens and fully preserved flora. Its suites were designed by architects Bia Bitencourt and Ricardo Salem, who were inspired by the beauty and nature of the region. The simplicity of the interior design, together with the colors of Bahia, often described in the books of Jorge Amado and in the songs of Caetano Veloso, encompass the entire environment and win over guests. It is the ideal refuge for those seeking comfort and sophistication.
Its structure has 28 charming and comfortable suites, 20 of which are spacious and elegant with a balcony or private garden, and 8 bungalows with at least 120 m² (the largest of which is 220 m²), private garden and pool, jacuzzi and pergola with hammock that guarantee absolute privacy. The accommodations, and for the greater comfort of guests, have Granado amenities.
When it comes to gastronomy, Estrela D'Água offers an authentic dining experience in its three restaurants: Bar da Costa, Aldeia de São João and Playa. The menu offers options for all tastes, from international cuisine to the best of contemporary Bahian cuisine. At night, Aldeia de São João, under the stars and the sound of the sea as a backdrop, offers more sophisticated options and a list of carefully selected wines. Bar da Costa, in turn, serves guests at the pool and on the beach and is famous for its caipirinhas made with seasonal fruits and Clericot. So much so that it is mentioned in the book “1000 Places You Should Know Before You Die”.
In addition to its incredible facilities, the inn offers a variety of experiences so that guests can enjoy the region even more. If you want to keep your body in shape with exercise, there is a gym designed by personal trainer Cau Saad. To relax after your workout, simply schedule a massage session at the hotel itself. Those who wish to explore the surrounding area will find a variety of options, from bike rides, speedboats, kayaks and quad bikes to helicopter flights and whale watching (which takes place in August and September). All options are personalized according to the wishes of each guest. In addition, the inn, which is pet friendly and accepts families with children, is just 15 minutes from the Terravista Golf Course, considered the largest and best designed golf course in Latin America.
Thanks to the impeccable quality of the services it provides to its friends and clients, making each season a unique experience, Estrela D'Água is part of the associations Roteiros de Charme, Condé Nast Johansens, Latin America Travel Association and Brazilian Luxury Travel Association (BLTA). In this regard, it received the Condé Nast Johansens Awards 2024 in the Luxury Hotels, Spa, Venues category.
For the guesthouse’s co-owner, businesswoman Evelyn Gavioli, “this award endorses and signals that we are on the right track,” she says. “For us, investing in training our team, working with them on the values that guide our proposal to welcome guests, is reflected in the satisfaction of our guests,” she adds. With the capacity to comfortably accommodate up to 60 guests, the guesthouse has a staff of 120 professionals during the high season – which is equivalent to having two employees available for each guest.
Sustainable actions
Reflecting its commitment to preserving the environment and promoting sustainability, this year Estrela D'Água adopted several practices. Among them, responsible waste disposal, efficient use of natural resources and eco-conscious actions integrated into all areas of the hotel.
Still in relation to initiatives, composting helps to reduce environmental impact: all organic waste generated at the inn is composted. This practice not only reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills but also produces a rich nutrient compound that is used to fertilize gardens and green areas, closing the transformation cycle in a sustainable way.
In addition to composting, says Evelyn Gavioli, several other sustainable measures have been adopted, constantly seeking ways to reduce environmental impact. These include eliminating the use of disposable plastics, using solar energy to heat showers, and recycling glass, plastic, aluminum, and cardboard and, when possible, reusing them. Cooking oil is recycled and transformed into biodegradable soap, and batteries, light bulbs, and electronic materials are discarded. All cleaning products are biodegradable, and brooms are made from recycled PET bottles.
“Our team’s awareness and engagement are essential for the daily implementation of these practices. That’s why, every week, a vehicle from the hotel collects waste stored by our employees in their homes and transports the material to the city’s recycling center, encouraging the practice of recycling and proper disposal. We are committed to continuing to find ways to protect and preserve nature, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the wonders of Trancoso,” says Evelyn.
