With the aim of offering the Peruvian export community crucial information on foreign trade logistics, focusing on port infrastructure, trade, customs, logistics services and business security in one of the most important markets for our exports, the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism, PROMPERÚ, held the seminar "Ports & Trade: Logistics in Trade with the United States."
In this new edition, attendees had the opportunity to hear from authorities and representatives of ports at destination, as well as experts and lawyers specialized in foreign trade. The information and strategies shared are designed to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of Peruvian companies in the US market, which remains one of our most important trading partners.
"We continue to promote activities that provide exporting companies with updated and relevant information to facilitate trade, with the aim of promoting the growth and internationalization of our exports," said Claricia Tirado, executive president of PROMPERÚ.
Since its inception in 2015, PROMPERÚ has organized specialized seminars on internationalization with a particular focus on non-traditional products and the main destination markets for Peruvian exports. These seminars have reached more than a thousand exporting companies, strengthening their capacities to face the challenges of international trade.
In 2023, Peru's non-traditional exports grew by 1.5% compared to the previous year, with the United States standing out as one of the main destinations, with almost 5 billion dollars in exports. In the first half of 2024, exports to this market reached 4.3 billion dollars, underscoring the importance of strengthening trade relations and improving logistics to maintain and expand our presence in this competitive market.
