Avianca was recognized for its work in preventing human trafficking during the "La Muralla Soy Yo" awards. These are organized by the Renacer Foundation and highlight innovative actions in the prevention and protection of girls, boys and adolescents against commercial sexual exploitation.

"Human trafficking is an invisible crime, directed against the most vulnerable people in society. To combat it, Avianca has created very valuable alliances with the Renacer Foundation and the Attorney General's Office, so that more travelers, more victims and our collaborators know how to identify and report this crime when they detect it. This recognition is a key sign that shows us that we are moving in the right direction," said Felipe Andrés Gómez Vivas, Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability at Avianca.

Since 2018, Avianca has been strengthening its commitment to combat human trafficking through strategic alliances with the Renacer Foundation and the Attorney General's Office. As a result, the airline has been able to:

  1. Train staff and implement security protocols: through educational content, talks with experts and the dissemination of instructions for the operational area explaining what to do in the event of detecting a possible case of trafficking.
  2. Raising awareness among travelers through informational material: with more than 130,000 cards containing key information on human trafficking and loaded on all Avianca aircraft.
  3. Generate awareness campaigns about the crime: in the context of dates such as July 30, World Day Against Human Trafficking, with activations focused on the client and messages that highlight the importance of being alert and reporting if a case is suspected.

Additionally, in May 2024, Avianca joined the Mayor's Office of Medellín to combat the sexual exploitation of minors, launching an awareness campaign that impacted more than 500,000 travelers on flights to Medellín. Through messages of rejection and prevention, the airline reinforced its commitment to the protection of children and the promotion of responsible tourism, inviting them to discover the city and the country in a safe and healthy way.
