With the aim of supporting the reconstruction of the state of Rio Grande do Sul after the catastrophe caused by floods in May this year, Embratur announced, this Saturday (28), on the first day of the International Tourism Fair (FIT) in Buenos Aires, a Promotion Plan for destinations in Rio Grande do Sul. The strategy includes an advertising campaign in Latin America, a press trip and a famtour with international journalists and tour operators and has as its main objective to generate employment and income for people in the region.

According to Embratur president Marcelo Freixo, tourism is a relevant alternative in the reconstruction of the state. “We believe that tourism is a central tool in this process. We are using all the Agency’s promotional tools in an integrated manner to promote gaucho destinations in strategic markets, mainly in South America, where the results are faster. Salgado Filho Airport will reopen on October 21 and, in December, it will begin to receive international flights. We are already stimulating interest and demand for gaucho destinations around the world. Rio Grande do Sul can count on us to rebuild the state,” he says. Tourism Minister Celso Sabino participated in the announcement of the actions together with Freixo.

Last Thursday (26), during the 51st Expo Abav, in Brasilia, Marcelo Freixo had already met with tourism secretaries of Rio Grande do Sul to talk about the Agency's actions to rebuild the sector in the state. On the occasion, he anticipated part of the actions in the meeting held by the National Association of Secretaries and Directors of Tourism (Anseditur), and reported that the Agency has contributed to the reconstruction of the state also with market intelligence data and relevant information to guide the initiatives.

The Secretary of Tourism of Rio Grande do Sul (Setur-RS), Ronaldo Santini, said that the work with Embratur will further highlight the tourist diversity of the state. “I want to thank Embratur for this partnership with our state. Rio Grande do Sul has a diversity of destinations and unique experiences and we must show it to the world. The airport will be operational again until we have the mission of filling 237 thousand seats with tourists for our state,” said the secretary, together with the general director of Setur-RS, Rafael Carniel.

Gramado Tourism Secretary Ricardo Reginato hopes that the host city of Natal Luz will once again welcome national and international visitors. “Serra Gaúcha is the largest hub of diversity of attractions in Brazil, all within a 200-kilometer radius. Natal Luz is something different from what you find in other parts of the world. Currently we must focus on the issuing countries that have direct flights to Rio Grande do Sul.”
