Ecuador commemorated World Tourism Day with the “Tourism, Peace and Competitiveness Forum”

The Ministry of Tourism created a specialized space for the exchange of experiences, which brought together leaders in the tourism sector and focused on new sustainable, innovative and competitive practices that are shaping the future of tourism

Mateo Estrella, Minister of Tourism (e), said that this was a meeting of reflection, understanding and projection to the future, and commented that the tourism sector is an economic reference for the country that " cannot stop " so from this State portfolio a series of national and international activities have been planned to promote the recovery of the industry in the last quarter of the year, promoting the good image of the country with the support of the embassies, consulates and commercial offices of Ecuador in the world.

The Forum was attended by experts, national and international industry leaders, academics and government representatives, including Fausto Iñiguez, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Patricia Alborta, CAF representative for Ecuador; Oscar Rueda, CAF Director of Tourism; Santiago Peralta and Carla Barbotó, from Pacari; Javier Cruz from the KFC Group; Raúl García, President of the Provincial Chamber of Tourism of Pichincha (CAPTUR); Florencia Burneo, from the Sixstar Hotels Group; Eric Samson, correspondent for Radio France Internationale; Gonzalo Ruíz, director of Noticiero Ecuadoradio, and Stephan Kuffner, independent journalist specializing in the economic field.

The main topics addressed were the Milestones of the Ministry of Tourism 2024-2025, Experiences of various Tourism Funds from countries in the region, Sustainable Investments in Ecuador, Strategic Communication of Tourism, and Security and Peace to promote tourism.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the Ministry of Tourism to establish a general framework for collaboration between both institutions, with a mechanism to allow the development of cooperation activities in the field of tourism. Likewise, the Social Pact for Tourism was signed, as a commitment to communicate messages and replicate positive news about Ecuador as a destination, working together and directly to attract local and international tourism, as well as investments to the country.
