In an interview with Travel2Latam, he discussed the growth of luxury tourism, new Afrotourism routes and how the state is adapting to immersion tourism trends.
Check out the exclusive interview below:
Travel2Latam: Luxury tourism in Paraná has been growing. What are the main attractions for those seeking exclusive experiences?
Irapuan Cortes: Tourism in the state of Paraná has numerous luxury products that attract many tourists. We have gastronomic tourism emerging on the national scene, more than 40 luxury resorts spread throughout the state, in addition to highlighting our nautical tourism and trains as luxurious experiences. Thus, we are placing Paraná in a differentiated position in luxury tourism.
Travel2Latam: What themes guide tourism activities in Paraná and how do they influence the promotion of the state?
Irapuan Cortes: All tourism topics are important, but we are working on segmentation, such as Sun and Beach Tourism, Gastronomic Tourism, Tourism on Wheels, Wellness Tourism, Cultural Tourism, Rural Tourism, Nautical Tourism, among others that we are developing. These segmentations guide the actions to promote and publicize the tourist destination Paraná.
Travel2Latam: Curitiba has been chosen for international airline routes. Is the state prepared for foreign tourists?
Irapuan Cortes: Not only Curitiba, but also Foz do Iguaçu are gaining prominence in international routes, with more airlines adding these destinations, especially after the expansion of Foz do Iguaçu International Airport and the improvements made to Afonso Pena International Airport. The state government's infrastructure is providing these cities with the possibility of tourism development. We know that we will have challenges to overcome, but, in partnership with the private sector, we are working to place Paraná on a new level in national and international tourism.
Travel2Latam: Is Paraná developing Afrotourism routes? How can this enrich the local tourism offer?
Irapuan Cortes: Afrotourism, which focuses on promoting Afro-descendant heritage and culture, has been gaining ground in several regions of Brazil, and Paraná is no different. A people without history is a people without culture. The development of these routes is still in the early stages of research. However, there is great potential to enrich the local tourism offering, as awareness and demand for this type of tourism increases. Investing in Afrotourism in Paraná not only rescues and values an essential part of the state's cultural identity, but also contributes to the creation of more inclusive, diverse and sustainable tourism.
Travel2Latam: How is Paraná adapting to immersion tourism and which destinations stand out in this segment?
Irapuan Cortes: Immersive tourism, which provides travelers with authentic and in-depth experiences, is growing in Paraná, aligning with global trends in sustainable, cultural and adventure tourism. The state has adapted its tourism offering to include more direct interactions with nature, local culture and traditional communities. This involves a complete immersion in the ways of life, traditions and landscapes of Paraná, with a focus on sustainability and genuine connection. We are encouraging rural and community-based tourism, ecotourism, adventure tourism and gastronomic experiences. Destinations and products that we can already highlight include Ilha do Mel, Vila Velha Park, Prudentópolis, Guarapuava, Porto Rico, Guaraqueçaba, among many others. The state of Paraná is ready to welcome you. Paraná: Discover, Feel and Be Amazed!
