WTM is the largest B2B meeting of the tourism industry in Latin America, and the 2025 edition promises to bring innovations focused on technology, connectivity and inclusion.
Focus on technology trends and connectivity
During the conference, Jonathan Heastie highlighted the importance of technology and connectivity for the tourism sector. Heastie highlighted the crucial role of technological innovation in the evolution of the industry, with an emphasis on topics such as artificial intelligence (AI) and more personalized travel experiences. According to him, new technologies not only drive growth in the sector, but also help to address challenges such as the lack of workforce, attracting more young people to the industry.
Another point mentioned by Heastie was the increase in global connections through hubs such as Brazil, which is positioned as a gateway to Latin America. He highlighted that the growth in air traffic in the region and investment in infrastructure reinforce the country's strategic position in the international tourism scene.
Inclusion and diversity on the event agenda
Bianca Pizzolito reinforced the importance of inclusion, diversity and accessibility as central themes of WTM Latin America 2025. According to Bianca, this year's edition will continue to promote equity in the tourism industry, with a focus on expanding the participation of different profiles and regions of Latin America.
She also mentioned that the event in São Paulo is a unique opportunity to connect the Latin American market with the rest of the world. “Our goal is to build a bridge between Latin America and the world, structuring programs that connect buyers and exhibitors effectively,” she said. Pizzolito also highlighted the growing presence of Brazilian states and other Latin American nations as exhibitors, demonstrating the regional relevance of the event.
Sustainability and the future of tourism
Heastie also mentioned the relevance of sustainability for the future of tourism, especially in destinations that prioritize immersive experiences and slower travel. He noted that the industry has focused on offering experiences that connect tourists to local communities, promoting more conscious and responsible tourism.
The WTM World Portfolio Director said the annual trends report, produced in partnership with Oxford Economics, will be published again this year, providing detailed forecasts for emerging markets and growth destinations such as Albania, Croatia and the Maldives. “Last year’s report indicated that Asian markets such as China, India and Indonesia will have a major impact on global travel growth in the coming years,” Heastie said.
Prepare expectations from WTM Latin America 2025
The event, which will take place from April 14 to 16, 2025 at Expo Center Norte, is already generating expectations of surpassing the attendance records of previous years. With a focus on the future of tourism, WTM Latin America 2025 is committed to addressing trends such as technology, connectivity, inclusion and sustainability. The conference ended with Bianca Pizzolito inviting interested parties to attend the event, reinforcing WTM's role as one of the largest tourism events in the world.
With relevant themes and a focus on innovations in the sector, WTM Latin America 2025 promises to be an essential platform for business and discussions that will shape the future of tourism in the region.
