Azul, Brazil's largest airline in terms of number of flights and cities served, celebrates this Thursday, the 10th, the arrival of another Airbus A330-200 aircraft – the fourth widebody received this year. The new aircraft, with the registration PR-AIL and named “Encanto Azul”, is on its way to Confins for the nationalization process and will soon become part of the company's international fleet, operating routes to destinations in the United States and Europe. The arrival of the new aircraft comes shortly after the company announced an agreement with aircraft lessors and manufacturers that will be essential for the company to follow its growth plan for the coming years.
Before being incorporated into Azul, the A330-200 had already been operated by companies in the United Arab Emirates and Germany. With capacity for 255 Customers, the aircraft has 21 seats in Business Class and 234 in Economy Class, offering Azul's international onboard service, which includes hot meals and snacks. The individual entertainment system located in the seats will be available from the first quarter of 2025. Until then, Customers will be able to access movies and series via the w-IFE system, directly on their mobile devices.
The arrival of this new aircraft is part of the company's international fleet expansion plan, which has already received four long-haul aircraft in 2024. In addition to these, this year the company also added an ATR 72-600, two Airbus A320 and four Embraer 195-E2 to its fleet, which are already in operation on Azul's domestic flight network, which is the leader in air connectivity in Brazil. By March 2025, another eight Embraer 195-E2s will be delivered to the company – which aims to reach 200 destinations served.
“We are very excited about the arrival of another aircraft, the fourth widebody of the year, which will strengthen our international network at a crucial time before the peak season. This allows us to offer more flight options to Customers, reflecting our confidence in the market and our commitment to providing unforgettable trips to our Customers,” says Jason Ward, Vice President of People, Customers and ESG at Azul.
