In this context, Travel2latam spoke with Fiorella Carrano, Sales Executive for Sheraton Lima Historic Center, and Evelyn Lili Ortega, Sales Manager of JW Marriott El Convento Cusco.
What does Marriott Hotels offer here in Peru?
We represent Marriott Hotels Peru, which offers five five- and four-star hotels in the country. Sheraton Lima is an iconic property with almost 500 rooms, and JW El Convento Cusco has 156. The overall offering nationwide is practically around 2,000 rooms.
Sheraton is the first property with 52 years here in Peru and we are the hotel with the largest inventory of rooms in Peru. In addition, we have event rooms that can accommodate up to 1000 people.
Are all hotels capable of hosting events?
We have a lot of experience in MICE. We have some large events in Cusco and there is a meal plan that complements all the events, and if the event is held outside the property we are also prepared, especially in Cusco.
From an updates perspective, is there anything new you would like to share?
Work is currently underway on Sheraton's gastronomic offering, in the hotels in Cusco and also at JW Lima, to propose different food themes for lunch and breakfast.
Do hotels receive both the leisure and corporate segment?
We have a good mix of both. At Sheraton itself we have a lot of leisure, but also corporate, especially from Latin America. Cusco is already a leisure city, so the hotel is designed for that type of market with diverse activities during the stay, different from what is offered in the city.
Sheraton, being in the historic center, very close to the airport, also covers a lot of tourism because it is close to the most important tourist attractions.
How does the international market work for these properties?
The accommodation services market is 90% foreign and 10% local, and within the gastronomic offer we have opened up to the local market, the one that comes every day from breakfast.
When we are talking about foreigners, Sheraton is very well known in the Asian market, and JW has a good American market, backed by our loyalty system which is Moroccan.
We also have European clients, especially Spain, but a more significant percentage is found in Latin America, with accommodation from Chileans, Colombians and Brazilians above all.
