In this context, Travel2latam spoke with Reynaldo Dzib, General Manager of Cancún Travel Group.

What expectations do you have for participating in the Cancun Travel Mart? What does this event mean to you?

As a DMC, Destination Management Company, we have always participated and it is an emblematic event. We really like to meet in Cancun and at this event that symbolizes the destination. Here we see both clients and suppliers and we meet once a year, we greet each other and it is something very special and positive.

In what context and with what current events do you come to participate in this exhibition?

It is a challenging year like any other. I think the tourism world is in a trend of change and the Mexican Caribbean is no exception. We still have many opportunities to improve and in the remainder of 2024 interesting things can be consolidated. There have been many global changes, there are elections everywhere and a more encouraging 2025 is coming because I think there will be political and economic stability at a global level.

If you had to describe in a few words what the current situation in the Mexican Caribbean is like, what would you say?

It is an interesting topic from a general perspective because I think there are many things in which we can still make progress. There is a tendency for change, and it is an ideal place because there is always something new to do. Even though people come and repeat, there is always something new in the Mexican Caribbean.

And in terms of demand, which markets do you perceive have grown and which ones lack development?

In South America, for example, the niches are very well defined. Something that gives us great pleasure is to see that the Brazilians are returning again. The Brazilian market is slowly coming to the Mexican Caribbean after a long period of lethargy.

Uruguay is very consistent. And on the other hand, with our Peruvian brothers, unfortunately, with the imposition of visas, that market was cut off, and we really hope that it will be reactivated, since both countries have a very interesting cultural heritage.

What products have you added this season with potential for the future?

The company is always in constant growth. Cancun Travel is increasingly looking for more products and right now we are making a big change. We are moving to a much more dynamic booking engine where we now have all our cultural tours on the same platform.
