The Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ) together with the Lima Convention Bureau announce that, thanks to strategic and coordinated work, they have managed to attract three important international events that will take place in the Peruvian capital in the coming years.
This joint effort seeks to boost travel to our country through meeting tourism, a segment that is growing worldwide and that generates more economic activity than conventional tourism.
Thus, the STS 2025 Cardiovascular Conference, organized by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, will be held for the first time in our country with the expectation of attracting medical professionals from the region. In addition, the Congress of the South American Association of Free Stores ASUTIL, which has not been held in Lima since 2007, will bring together participants in 2025. And the CCPS 2026 Latin American Process Safety Congress, organized by AICHE Peru, promises to bring together hundreds of international experts.
The economic impact for the country generated by the three events mentioned is projected to be USD 5 million.
The strategy from PROMPERÚ
It should be noted that this recruitment process involves establishing direct contact with the organizers or through the convention bureaus of the different destinations, carrying out inspections of the spaces and presenting the catalogue of high-level services offered by the city. For more than fifteen years, PROMPERÚ has been working on promoting the MICE sector (meetings, incentives, congresses and events), achieving significant growth in the offer of destinations such as Ica, Iquitos, Arequipa, Cusco and Lima.
These achievements are added to other important events that will take place in Peru, including the Skal World Congress in Cusco, which will bring together leading professionals and leaders in tourism, as well as Alta Aviation Safety, the most important summit in aviation safety.
Furthermore, PROMPERÚ has been working with convention bureaus in emblematic destinations such as Lima, Cusco, Paracas, Arequipa and Iquitos, not only in attracting events, but also through training aimed at the foreign commercial chain and its participation in international fairs specializing in meeting tourism.
This comprehensive approach is a crucial step towards reactivating tourism and strengthening Peru's image as an attractive destination for high-level events.
