The Mexican Grand Prix will generate an economic impact of more than 19 billion pesos

Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that the celebration of the Mexican Grand Prix is ​​expected to generate an economic impact of 19 billion 550 million 821 thousand pesos, which represents an increase of 13.8 percent compared to 2023.

Likewise, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) pointed out that, during the celebration of this important automobile competition, from October 25 to 27, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Government of Mexico City estimates that the number of economic units that will benefit is around 225 thousand, in which around 1 million people work.

He noted that the arrival of 238 thousand tourists staying in Mexico City is expected, which represents an increase of 2.8 percent compared to the previous year; including 55 thousand foreign tourists, 5.5 percent more than in 2023.

In this regard, he highlighted that hotel occupancy will reach an average of 79.2 percent, equivalent to 132,667 occupied rooms, and added that an economic spillover from tourist services and accommodation of 2,203,587,000 pesos is expected.

Rodríguez Zamora highlighted the importance of holding international sporting events, such as the Mexican Grand Prix, which will be covered in more than 200 countries and 2,400 hours of global coverage; or the Major Premier Padel, which will be held in Acapulco, from November 25 to December 1, 2024, with spectators from more than 189 countries; to boost the arrival of tourists and economic benefits for the population.

Recalling that during the current administration headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, community tourism is being strengthened by job creation, the head of Sectur highlighted that the automobile event will generate nearly 9,000 of them.

Josefina Rodríguez Zamora acknowledged the work of the Mexico City Tourism Secretariat in the context of social tourism, since in the F1 Fan Zone, which will be held in the Bicentennial Park and will bring together more than 30 thousand fans, the Expansión Group donated 3 thousand tickets to the event for different priority populations, who will enjoy the live broadcast of the Mexican Grand Prix, as well as activities, music and entertainment for the whole family.

Mexico's Secretary of Tourism said that international sporting events will include communities and towns from all over our country, because sport unites people, families and nations.
