Arajet, the Dominican low-cost airline, began operations from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ), expanding its network of destinations and connecting this important tourist hub with the American continent.

The flagship airline will initially operate 14 destinations to and from Punta Cana. These include: Kingston in Jamaica; Lima in Peru; Mexico City and Cancun in Mexico; Bogota, Cartagena and Medellin in Colombia; Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador; Toronto and Montreal in Canada; Sao Paulo in Brazil; Buenos Aires in Argentina and Santiago in Chile. With this expansion, Punta Cana Airport becomes the airline's second base of operations in the Dominican Republic.

Victor Pacheco, CEO and Founder of Arajet, expressed his satisfaction at being able to offer citizens of the region the opportunity to connect with the Eastern region, recognized as the most important tourist hub in the Caribbean and the second most important in the entire continent.

“Arajet is firmly committed to continuing the democratization of the skies and continuing to connect the continent from Canada to Argentina at the best market price with world-class service,” said Pacheco.

He stressed that the airline aims to increase passenger mobility from Punta Cana Airport, the busiest in the country. This effort seeks to position the Dominican Republic as the new air hub of the continent.

Punta Cana Airport has maintained its commitment to innovation, which has allowed it to be one of the best airports in Latin America, with constant growth, handling the largest tourist air traffic in the country, connecting with 75 cities in 34 countries through 58 airlines and mobilizing more than 9 million passengers per year.

“This strategic alliance responds to our mission of continuing to be the airport with the most air traffic in the Dominican Republic, receiving 68% of the tourists arriving in our country. We thank Arajet for placing their trust in our airport and inviting us to be part of their expansion plans in the country, with the purpose of promoting tourism,” said Giovanni Rainieri, Director of Airside Operations at Punta Cana Airport.

Arajet has established itself as the Dominican airline with the highest passenger movement, surpassing the 100,000 passenger barrier for several consecutive months. This represents more than 7% of the total number of passengers flying to and from the Dominican Republic, highlighting its growing presence in the country's air market.
