In this context, Travel2latam spoke with Jesús Almaguer Salazar, President of the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres.

What are the expectations and objectives of those participating in WTM?

We are mainly looking to increase frequencies and create new routes if possible. The English market is moving quite a bit towards the Mexican Caribbean and we want to maximize and optimize the business to have more tourism in Cancun and in the Mexican Caribbean in general.

We saw many entrepreneurs who came to participate and accompany them. They had an impressive stand.

Yes, the truth is important and it shows the strength of the market and the faith we have. We are receiving very good production and we want to increase it.

This morning, we have already achieved one more frequency from British, with a daily flight to Cancun. We still have to work on the Tulum Airport, which would also provide more scope for the offer. That is what sets us apart from the rest of the competition, all the variety of offers we have, and we are going to maximize it as much as possible.

The Maya Train is a good tool, but we need to create a tourist product around it, because the Maya Train itself is not a tourist destination, it is a means of transportation that can help to trigger tourist destinations and, for me, it is a great opportunity to relaunch the Maya World Circuit.
