With a focus on sustainable tourism, Helena highlighted the global initiative Wave of Change, which aims to transform the chain's hotels into spaces for responsible tourism. “By 2025, we want to be a waste-free company and, by 2030, neutralize carbon emissions and ensure the health of the ecosystems around our hotels,” said Helena.
Brazilian market and the Amazon experience
During the interview, Helena stated that around 80% of Iberostar guests in Brazil are Brazilian, with a growing presence of tourists from the Southern Cone, especially from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Among the attractions for this audience, she mentioned the Iberostar Grand Amazon cruise, which runs expeditions along the Solimões and Rio Negro rivers with luxury cabins, international cuisine and exclusive tours of the Amazon.
“The Grand Amazon is a unique adventure tourism experience, ideal for couples and groups seeking contact with nature, but with comfort and safety,” explained Helena. She also highlighted that, unlike seasonal cruises, the Grand Amazon operates year-round, meeting the demands of river navigation and providing an exclusive Amazon experience.
News, expansion and awards
Helena also announced the launch of a new resort in Aruba, Joya Aruba by Iberostar, scheduled for 2025, with 240 suites and an architecture that highlights the natural elements of the Pacific Ocean. Located just 20 km from Aruba airport, the resort will open with a different model, without an all-inclusive system, due to local policies.
Another highlight was the second edition of the event in honor of Brazilian travel agents, scheduled for June 2025, on board the Grand Amazon cruise ship. According to Helena, the event seeks to recognize the dedication and partnership of agents in promoting the Iberostar brand.
Iberostar's commitment to responsible tourism
Helena concluded by emphasizing the group's commitment to sustainable tourism and the appreciation of the ecosystems in which the resorts are located. In addition to Wave of Change, Iberostar continues to invest in training and technical visits to strengthen partnerships and increase environmental awareness, a value that is increasingly present among the chain's customers.
With this presence at Festuris and new actions, Iberostar reaffirms its commitment to promoting tourism that combines luxury and sustainability, adapting to the new demands of the public and the global market.
