This organization annually recognizes public management practices that are exemplary for their impact on society, transparency and effectiveness. In the 2024 edition of the awards, more than 280 practices from all over public management were reviewed, with the two projects of the Ministry of Tourism standing out for their contribution to the development of the sector.
The Emprende Turismo program received recognition as a “Good Practice” in the category “Strengthening Small Producers and Entrepreneurs” for its support of entrepreneurship for more than six consecutive years, during which time hundreds of businesses in the country have received technical assistance, training and incubation. Within the framework of this program and thanks to the support of the government of President Daniel Noboa Azín, this year they delivered more than 300,000 dollars in seed capital.
On the other hand, the Reactiva Turismo Credit at 5% interest received the highest award by being recognized as an “Exemplary Practice” for its promotion of productive investment by tourism microenterprises, also within the category “Strengthening of Small Producers and Entrepreneurs”. The award is due to the fact that since 2023, more than 560 businesses have benefited from more than 10.6 million dollars in loans at a 5% interest rate subsidized by the Ministry of Tourism, which consolidates this credit modality as one of the most competitive financial products specialized in the tourism sector in the region.
Tourism Minister Mateo Estrella received the awards along with Vice Minister Silvana Ramírez, stating that “from the National Government, every day we reaffirm our commitment to continue working for the benefit of the industry, which in addition to being resilient is a generator of economic and social dynamism in the country.”
