The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted that the signing of this agreement is a historic turning point, since it unifies the two levels of the Fourth Transformation; on the first level, a large infrastructure of more than 1,500 kilometers of track was created and now, on the second level, headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, its consolidation as a tourist product.
He thanked the Secretariat for the invitation and for its willingness to join this effort to strengthen the production chain of the tourism sector, with an emphasis on the resident communities, through the promotion of the Mayan Train.
In this regard, he pointed out the importance of the Mayan Train as a generator of shared prosperity and employment in the communities directly and indirectly benefited by this great tourism product, which also gives added value to Mexico and its people with world-class quality.
Highlighting that currently 8 out of 10 passengers are nationals, Rodríguez Zamora recognized the work carried out by the administration of the Maya Train, since online ticket sales have doubled.
"The objective of this agreement is to strengthen promotion, training, marketing points and to socialize it from north to south. Our brand Mexico is present, we are a single consolidated country, where the sector feels united and involved," he said.
In his opportunity, the General Director of the Mayan Train, General Oscar David Lozano Águila, praised this alliance between the Mayan Train and the Ministry of Tourism, with the signing of this agreement that is a great commitment and generates many areas of opportunity to collaborate and work in a coordinated manner.
He highlighted the importance of the support of the Ministry of Tourism for the promotion of the Mayan Train, especially by leading the preparations for its participation in the most important tourism fairs worldwide.
“It was a great surprise to meet a woman as enthusiastic as teacher Josefina, with great ideas, I feel very welcomed. She is a woman who is always acting, always proposing. It is a great honor to work with her” he said.
He stated that, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through embassies and consulates, the Maya Train will increase its promotion and “travel the world.”
“I agree with what our president said. I believe that the Maya Train has been a great achievement. The Maya Train tells the world that Mexicans can do great things, that we Mexicans look far ahead,” she concluded.
As part of this work agreement, the Mexico brand will join all the media plans for promoting tourism in which the Mayan Train participates, and in this way inform, disseminate and promote it.
Support and advice will be provided in the implementation of programs, projects and actions in areas such as:
a) Development of tourist products for the various segments of national tourism.
b) Investment and financing in projects of tourist interest.
c) Implementation of tourism projects.
d) Preservation of Mexico's natural and cultural heritage.
