With the youngest fleet in the country, Azul, the largest airline in terms of number of flights and destinations served in Brazil, added 20 aircraft to its diversified fleet in 2024. Compared to 2023, when it received 11 aircraft, there was an 82% increase in the number of aircraft received this year.
The balance was closed after the recent arrival, at the end of December 2024, of four new Embraer E2s, the largest and most modern aircraft manufactured in Brazil, used mainly on domestic routes and also short-haul international flights. In December alone, six aircraft were delivered directly from the manufacturer, a record for a single month.
“Each aircraft that arrives helps us offer more seats, increase frequencies on routes that meet demand and expand our network with new destinations. In addition, with the arrival of new aircraft, we reduce the average age of our fleet, which is now the youngest in the country, at an average of 7 years old,” explains John Rodgerson, CEO of Azul.
In 2024, Azul incorporated a total of 20 aircraft, including eleven Embraer E2s, two Airbus A320s and one ATR 72-600, all delivered directly from the factories, in addition to four Airbus A330s (widebody) and two Airbus A321 freighters.
“It is important to emphasize that, in addition to meeting growing demand, the arrival of second-generation aircraft is important for our decarbonization plan. For example, the Embraer E2 has 20% lower fuel consumption than the previous model. This helps reduce costs and have a sustainable and more efficient operation,” reinforces John.
