Mexico: More than 108 million passengers transported on domestic and international flights from January to November 2024

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that 52 million 158 thousand passengers were transported on international flights in the first 11 months of 2024

According to information from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) said that, of these, 52 million 158 thousand passengers were transported on international flights.

The above, he added, means an increase of 5.7 percent, compared to the same period in 2023 and 20.5 percent more than in 2019, when 43 million 289 thousand passengers were registered.

He pointed out the participation of the airlines Aeroméxico and Volaris with 12 million 273 thousand passengers, 11.6 percent more than the first 11 months of 2023 and 36.9 percent more than those transported in 2019.

Rodríguez Zamora added that the US airlines that had the highest flow of passengers during January-November 2024 were American Airlines and United Airlines, which together transported 12 million 332 thousand passengers, 5.7 percent more than in 2023 and 4.9 percent more than in 2019.

On the other hand, he highlighted that between January and November 2024, 56 million 81 thousand passengers were transported on domestic flights. He pointed out that, in this regard, the airlines with the highest flow of passengers during January-November of the year were Viva Aerobus and Volaris, with 39 million 888 thousand passengers.

The head of Sectur highlighted the importance of air connectivity to strengthen tourism activity and continue making this noble industry a generator of social well-being and shared prosperity, through the diversification of destinations, whose benefits reach all communities, as instructed by the president, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
