Curaçao tourism hits record high: 700,000 arrivals in 2024

The Curaçao Tourism Board is proud to announce a remarkable achievement, the destination has welcomed 700,249 arrivals last year

The island experienced a strong 20% ​​increase compared to 2023, with 117,844 more visitors during the year.
Curacao’s tourism industry demonstrated growth and stability in 2024, driven by strategic efforts to maintain visibility in key markets. 

These initiatives have successfully positioned Curaçao as a destination where travellers can “feel it for themselves”. From January to December 2024, the island welcomed 700,249 staycation arrivals, 35,499 day-trippers and 834,922 cruise ship passengers, resulting in a total of 1,570,670 tourist arrivals. This represents a remarkable increase of 20% compared to the same period in 2023.

December 2024:
December 2024 marks a new chapter in our success story. It is the first time that Curaçao welcomes more than 70,000 arrivals in a single month. The total number of arrivals with recorded overnight stays is recorded at 73,669, which is an increase of 16% compared to December 2023. Particularly driven by Curaçao's main market, the Netherlands, followed by the USA and Colombia. All three source countries have seen an increase in air service from different partner airlines, which have generally extended their connection or started a new route to Curaçao.

Top 3 source markets in December:
Netherlands: In December 2024, Curaçao welcomed 25,255 visitors from the Netherlands, an increase of 9% compared to 23,111 arrivals in December 2023. The average stay of visitors from the Netherlands was 13.9 nights.

United States of America: The United States remains a vital market for Curaçao, with arrivals up 30%. A total of 19,069 US visitors traveled to the island in December 2024, up from 14,714 in December 2023. US visitors stayed an average of 6.4 nights, with the majority of arrivals originating in New York, Florida, New Jersey, Texas and Georgia.

Colombia: Colombian arrivals showed a slight decline, with a total of 5,330 visitors in December 2024, down 1% from 5,405 in December 2023. Colombia emerged as the third largest source market in absolute numbers, receiving slightly more visitors compared to Canada (4,957) and Brazil (4,245). Colombian visitors spent an average of 7.3 nights on the island.

Southern Cone Markets:
Argentina: This South American country continues to position Curaçao as a new travel option. Argentine visitors had a pleasant growth of 69% in the month of December 2024, representing 590 visitors compared to 350 in December 2023. Argentines stayed an average of 8.3 nights.

Chile: In December 2024, the island of Curaçao had Chilean visitors, the arrival of these was 116 passengers, little compared to the visitors received in December 2023 107, although the increase was 8%, the average stay per night in Chile was 9.3.

Uruguay: The arrival of Uruguayans showed a slight increase for the month of December 2024, as it had the arrival of 118 visitors compared to those received in December 2023, which was 65 visitors, which corresponds to an 82% increase in arrivals, the nights of stay for visitors from Uruguay was 8.3.
