Despite the volatility of the dollar, the enjoyment of new cultural, gastronomic and leisure experiences has motivated Colombians to continue planning their trips abroad. The diversification of the offer of Travel Agencies, adapted to market trends, has also influenced this positive behavior.
“One of the most important actions that we have been developing at ANATO is the constant training of entrepreneurs in the sector regarding the preferences of today's travelers, since being at the forefront facilitates the creation of packages to meet these needs and with more alternatives to choose from and in this way, promote the interest of Colombians to know new places,” explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
During 2024, more than 5.6 million Colombians went abroad, which translated into an increase of about 8%, compared to the 5.2 million registered in 2023; And among the main places to which they are traveling, the United States, Spain, Mexico, Panama and the Dominican Republic remain.
However, among the most representative destinations for the Colombian market, those that reported the greatest growth were Aruba, with an increase of 29%; Peru and Panama, with 27%; Spain, with 20%; and the United States with 12%.
“In the digital age there is a lot of access to information about destinations. However, many people still do not know how to plan an international trip efficiently and that is where Travel Agencies advise to get the most out of their vacations or business trips, so we will continue working to continue being drivers of these important tourism figures,” said the union leader.
