Spain, as the most important European market for Central America, represents an annual flow of half a million travelers to the region. In this context, from January 21 to 26, CATA will lead strategic initiatives to attract new visitors and strengthen ties with those who have already discovered the wonders of the isthmus.

Boris Iraheta, Secretary General of CATA, highlights the importance of FITUR for the region: “Central America is a destination of endless experiences that captivate European travellers attracted by its natural and cultural wealth. Our participation in FITUR 2025 reinforces our commitment to keep the region on the world tourism map, promoting sustainable and quality tourism.”

As a prelude to FITUR, CATA will host the Central America Cooking Show, led by renowned chef Ricardo Cardona, famous for his work with international artists and his participation in television programs. This gastronomic show will delight attendees with the most representative flavors of the region, bringing the cultural and culinary diversity of Central America to the table.

The Central America Media & Trade Travel Awards will then be presented, recognizing media outlets, wholesalers, hotels and airlines that have stood out for their support in the dissemination, marketing and promotion of initiatives that promote the connection between Europe and Central America, strengthening the flow of tourism between both continents.

Within the framework of FITUR, CATA will accompany the region's top authorities in high-level dialogue forums, positioning Central America at the center of conversations on sustainable tourism. In addition, the Agency will be present at the 2024 Excelencias Turísticas Awards ceremony, where it stands out as a finalist with an innovative project that promotes regional tourism development.

CATA and the Mundo Maya Organization will join forces to highlight the archaeological, natural and adventure richness that the Central American region offers. This presentation will take place in a space co-organized with the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV), strengthening the promotion of destinations to the Spanish market, recognized for its interest in unique cultural and nature experiences.

Finally, guided tours of the fairgrounds will be organised in collaboration with Civitatis, offering visitors an immersive experience at the stands of Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, where they can explore the unique tourist offerings of each country.

FITUR 2025 promises to be a key platform for Central America to strengthen its presence in the international market and continue to attract the attention of travelers from around the world. With innovative activities, strategic alliances and the promotion of its cultural and natural wealth, the region reaffirms its position as a unique destination with complementary experiences.
