Colombia is one of the richest countries in terms of biological diversity, represented in its vast geography, composed of two oceans, three mountain ranges and the highest snow-capped mountain on a coast, extensive portions of moorlands in the world, lush jungles and incomparable rivers. Being in the equatorial zone, plus the country's geological conditions, allow you to enjoy a variety of ecosystems and landscapes where natural experiences pursue the understanding and conservation of the country's vast and remarkable natural heritage.
Ornithologists and tourists from all over the world come to Chocó hoping to see one of the 650 species of birds that inhabit the Pacific region, and they are not disappointed. The Almejal Nature Reserve in Bahía Solano is an excellent place to birdwatch. It is home to several endemic species and belongs to an important migratory corridor.
The Pacific region has the richest jungle in terms of fauna in the world, as well as extensive virgin beaches where humpback whales come once a year to give birth and mate. For this reason, the coasts of Chocó are a must-see tourist destination for lovers of nature, the sea and water sports.
Located south of Bahía Solano and the Utría inlet, in the Gulf of Tribugá, Nuquí is one of the municipalities that receives the most travelers throughout the year in Chocó.
Together with the surrounding municipalities, such as Termales, Coquí, Arusí and Guachalito, among others, Nuquí forms an area with numerous natural destinations to explore, relax and dream of a better world.
Hot springs on the seashore, fresh waterfalls, a marine ecosystem that thrives in beautiful coral formations, waves ideal for surfing, rivers for sailing, mangroves, ecological walks and wonderful beaches are part of what you will find in this natural paradise.
There are two access routes to reach Nuquí, since the presence of water channels, dense vegetation and swampy terrain due to heavy rains make land access impossible.
By air: Nuquí has the Reyes Murillo Airport, which receives charter flights from Medellín, Bogotá or Quibdó. This flight allows you to start your inspiration in nature by observing the panoramic view of the Darién Jungle.
By sea: Although there is no river access, there is maritime access from Buenaventura, with a journey that takes eight hours by speedboat; or from Bahía Solano, two hours, also by speedboat.
