Since its launch in October 2024, the Skylift has become famous for its altitude of more than 270 meters high from the street to the top of the building at the Top of the Rock, its 360° view allows visitors to enjoy the architectural landscape of the city of New York.

The strategic location at the Top of the Rock observation deck, on the 70th floor of Rockefeller Plaza, and the elevator-type technology allow visitors to stand on the rotating platform and perform that 360° spin in the open air, a perfect view to capture the perfect moment in those panoramic photos, and create the sensation of floating among the skyscrapers.

This platform is designed to reflect and celebrate the classic art deco architecture of Rockefeller Center, it features glass panels, marble details and a steel structure that evokes the Center's iconic design motifs, 96 LED lights that create a magical spectacle visible across the city skyline, and if you want to celebrate special dates, anniversaries or propose to your loved one, you can customize the LED lights.

Thanks to architect Richard J. DeMarco, AIA, director of MADGI, and experience designer THG Creative, New York now has this technological observation deck.

To access this experience, you must have a budget of about US$35 per person ($149,000 Colombian pesos), which is the ideal complement to general admission and express passes to Top of the Rock.

For those who purchase VIP and VIP Rock passes, the Skylift is included. You can check the ticket availability and make your purchase here.

Executives weigh in: EB Kelly, Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer and Head of Rockefeller Center, says, “Rockefeller Center is full of incredible experiences, but none are as awe-inspiring as Skylift. Soaring more than 900 feet above the ground with 360-degree views, at skyscraper level, it’s an unforgettable experience—it’s the crown jewel of our Rockefeller Center activation.”

Phil Hettema, Founder and CEO of THG Creative, said: “Skylift is not only the perfect complement to New York’s most coveted observation deck, but also a dazzling new addition to the city’s skyline that will capture the attention of locals and visitors alike for years to come.”

Jim Shumway, TAIT’s VP of Projects, comments: “This project presented unique challenges that the team successfully met. We are proud of our engineering and expertise on the Skylift, including our TAIT Navigator automation system.”

"As the architects of this project, we worked closely with experience designer THG Creative and the team at Tishman Speyer to create an unforgettable experience for visitors and New Yorkers alike, allowing them to enjoy breathtaking views, across four levels and over 10 feet in diameter. The wedding cake-like base of the Skylift rises in a telescopic fashion, with each level displaying a stunning LED light show.7" shared Richard J. DeMarco, AIA, Principal at MADGI.

Skylift is the latest element of Top of the Rock’s comprehensive modernization, which also included the opening of The Beam  in 2023, an interactive photography experience on the 69th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza that recreates the famous 1932 photograph, “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper.”  In summer 2024, the Welcome Gallery opens to the public , featuring an immersive theatrical show introducing the history of Rockefeller Center.

This transformation includes new dining experiences at acclaimed restaurants Jupiter, Le Rock, and NARO; a new generation of coveted retail destinations including N.Peal, Todd Snyder, Rough Trade, and McNally Jackson; and a continued dedication to the public art program, featuring contemporary and international works by artists including Basil Kincaid, Melissa Joseph, and Dominique Fung. This reinvention is driven by the vision of Rockefeller Center’s founder: a “city within a city.”
