The Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ) participated in the OTM 2025 Fair, one of the most important tourism events for the Indian and Asian markets, which took place in the city of Mumbai (India) from January 30 to February 1.

During the three days of the fair, PROMPERÚ, together with a Peruvian delegation of 16 tourism companies made up of leading tour operators and products, arranged an estimated 691 business meetings and established around 2,600 commercial contacts.

At this international event, in which more than 60 countries also participated, the best of Peru's tourist and cultural wealth was revealed with the aim of consolidating our country as a destination for unique experiences in India, an increasingly important market worldwide.

The fair promoted Peru's varied tourist offering, presenting experiences focused on the cultural, nature and luxury tourism segments, mainly in the regions of Lima, Ica, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno, Loreto and Madre de Dios.

Peru was also recognized for organizing this prestigious tourism event as the 'Best Upcoming Leisure Destination', an award that reflects the growing interest in this market for Peru as an international destination.

In 2024, Peru participated for the first time as an exhibitor at OTM India, where a business potential of USD 2.6 million was achieved. It is considered the gateway to the Indian travel market, uniting the tourism sector of this country and Asia.

Indian Market
India is the fourth largest source market in Asia for tourists to Peru. Indian travellers with high purchasing power are the most interested in discovering new destinations, and are mainly looking for experience tourism, multigenerational travel and luxury travel.

In 2024, Peru received a total of 10,851 Indian tourists, representing a growth of 36% compared to the 2023 period. It is also important to highlight that last year's arrivals have managed to exceed pre-pandemic levels in 2019 (9,505).

According to Turismo In, a PROMPERÚ platform, India is positioned as a strategic market in the diversification of Peru's tourism offering, due to its projected growth of 22.2% in the number of travelers to the world. For its part, the Indian traveler increased his average spending to more than USD 2000 and his average stay to 8 days. In addition, this country ranks third in the world in terms of centimillionaires, people with a net worth of at least 100 million dollars.
