This event, led by the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment and the Bureau of Medellín and Antioquia, included the participation of a strategic group of actors from the local tourism sector, who had the opportunity to experience first-hand this innovative diagnostic and strategic planning tool.
DestinationNEXT® is the only evaluation tool in the tourism industry that, through a detailed analysis of the destination, allows the generation of a diagnostic report. This report is key to understanding the positioning of Medellín and Antioquia in comparison with other destinations globally and to draw up a roadmap to strengthen their tourism development.
The event was attended by the Secretary of Tourism and Entertainment, José Alejandro González, the Executive Director of the Bureau of Medellín and Antioquia, Juliana Cardona Quirós, as well as the invited workshop facilitators Ana María Viscasillas and Miriam Ibarra from Destination International. In addition, more than 60 entrepreneurs from the tourism sector of the District took part in this space for analysis and planning.
This diagnostic tool is based on two fundamental axes: the assessment of the importance of various key variables for the destination and the perception of the destination's performance in each of them. With 24 variables ranging from infrastructure and mobility to inclusion and sustainability, this exercise allows validating the roadmap to align development strategies with the community and key players in the tourism sector.
In the coming days, the results of this assessment will be shared with all stakeholders in the city's tourism sector. Based on these findings, work will begin on implementing actions and strategies that will contribute to the sustainable growth of tourism in Medellín and Antioquia.
