After an extraordinary 2024, with more than 11 million visitors, the Dominican Republic reaffirms its position as the leading destination in the Caribbean and is now taking a decisive step in its tourism branding strategy, strengthening its country brand and showing the world the incredible diversity of its destinations. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism, work has been done to create and renew the brands of key destinations such as Miches, Samaná, Santiago and Costa del Ámbar.
The ministry presented its new branding strategy that highlights the rich variety of experiences that the Dominican Republic offers. From the pristine beaches and ecotourism in Miches, to the vibrant culture and traditions of Santiago, to the stunning natural beauty of Samaná and the historic charm of the Amber Coast, each destination is being designed to highlight its unique identity and broaden the country's appeal.
“The Dominican Republic is much more than beaches and paradisiacal landscapes; we are a nation with a rich, diverse cultural identity and a warm and welcoming population. This project is essential to show the world the true potential of each of our destinations, positioning us at the forefront of global tourism, aligned with the new demands of travelers for unique, sustainable and enriching experiences,” said the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado during the International Tourism Fair held in Madrid.
With the projection and work of this new tourism branding strategy, not only will the international position of the Dominican Republic be improved, but it will also boost the economy, social development, job creation and foreign investment. In addition, each destination has been designed to highlight its unique identity:
Amber Coast: Sustainability and cultural tourism in places like Puerto Plata and Cabarete, where you will find numerous attractions, such as the best-preserved Victorian houses in the Caribbean, amber deposits or enjoy a good rum.
Miches: An ecological paradise with pristine beaches. It has become one of the most popular destinations in recent years. There you will find endless activities to enjoy.
Samaná: Luxury, well-being and adventure in a temple of biodiversity, one of the most important humpback whale sanctuaries in the world.
Santiago: An economic and cultural centre that combines tradition and modernity.
Branding expert Andy Stalman highlights all that can be found in this rich destination, with options for all tastes: “The Dominican Republic is not just a destination, it is a world of possibilities. This comprehensive approach invites you to discover all the spectacular corners that the country has to offer.”
This plan comes at a key moment, where major international hotel chains, such as Four Seasons, St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, Rosewood, among others, are joining in the investments in the Dominican Republic, contributing to the growth and prestige of the country.
