2024 closed with very significant figures for both outbound and inbound tourism. In fact, 2025 is beginning to show positive signs of the performance that the sector would have throughout the year.

One of these signs is related to international flight reservations for the first half of 2025, which have already reached an increase of 9.2%, compared to the same period in 2024, and suggests that the positive trend seen last year, when an annual increase of 8.5% was reached, could continue this year.

“There is an important point that we highlight in these results and that is that 76% of reservations are for pleasure, and 55% are for direct flights between the city of origin and destination, which, apart from showing the good moment that vacation tourism is going through in our country, confirms that the strengthening that international air connectivity has been reporting, has generated greater competitiveness in the market and greater incentives for travelers to choose Colombia over other destinations,” explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

The growth of reservations from Argentina, Chile and Ecuador for the first half of 2025 is also highlighted; but also, the interest that Medellín and Bogotá have as destinations, the first with a growth of 30%; and the Colombian capital, with a share of 55% of the total reservations.

“We are very positive about the travel trend for this year. We expect a significant upturn for the sector. With the help of connectivity, we are making possible the growth, development and visibility of traditional destinations, but also those with a tourist vocation,” concluded the union leader.
