The Minister of Tourism, Eduardo Sanguinetti, highlighted the role of the organization, which “is fundamental for the tourism sector and we want to share with you the effort that you have made in these five years that you have been in the Administration, you have always been looking, trying to innovate, because you have made proposals that we as a government have taken up.” In addition, he stressed that, due to various inconveniences, such as the pandemic, exchange problems with Argentina and Brazil, these were not five easy years for the sector, “we are really the ones who are grateful for the treatment or the disposition, always that they have had for the work plan, the laws themselves and the training,” he said.
On the other hand, the Minister of Transport and Public Works, José Luis Falero, highlighted the joint work that has been carried out during all this time, “I believe that all parties, those who are here and those who are not, have made the maximum effort so that today, the Tourist Transport Union is still alive and offering quality services to our tourists.” The minister stressed that “luckily we have a thriving sector here, always offering the best that we Uruguayans have, attention and service to tourists, which undoubtedly has enormous potential and we cannot waste it.”
Meanwhile, the former Minister of Labor and Social Security, Pablo Mieres, stated that “those of us who were in government positions or those who are still there, have great gratitude towards this institution and all the tourism organizations that were able to face the most serious situation imaginable, such as a pandemic; you were an example of resilience, of the ability to reconvert, of the ability to respond to the most adverse circumstances possible, to remain firm thinking of hope for the future and the ability to overcome adversity.”
